If you think that you are being denied a rental because of the color of your skin, contact a human rights officer and they can help you.

The Alberta Human Rights Act protects all people against discrimination. You cannot be denied an apartment or suite for any of these reasons:

  • race
  • colour
  • ancestry
  • where you were born
  • religious beliefs (check with landlords about ceremonies like smudging)
  • gender
  • physical disability
  • mental disability
  • marital status
  • family status
  • source of income
  • sexual orientation
  • gender identity
  • gender expression
