Professional family mediation in Alberta provides a respectful, neutral space for families to work through separation, parenting, or conflict-related issues. With the guidance of a trained mediator, families can communicate more effectively, reduce stress, and develop practical agreements that focus on cooperation and the best interests of children, often avoiding the time and cost of court.

What happens if we can't reach an agreement?

If no agreement is made, it would then move into the court process. Although there are a variety of ways in decision making with the judicial process, some processes are lengthy and also cost consuming for both parties involved.

This is why mediation can be helpful for parents. It can also accommodate the needs/dynamics of the family and children as time goes on.

It’s important to note that any mediation is not legally binding. If you would like anything to be legally stamped/signed, you must ask your mediator about that process after reaching a parenting agreement.
