A guide to keeping our children safe!
Halloween is all about fun, costumes, and candy! However, safety should always come first. Here’s some pointers for young parents to keep in mind this Halloweekend!
- If you can, always make sure there’s reflective gear or lights somewhere on your child’s costume. This will help others and yourselves see your child walking.
- Make sure their costumes are warm, and also short. This will prevent being cold and also prevent tripping hazards for them.
- Make sure your child(ren) wears appropriate footwear when out walking.
- If they wear makeup, make sure it’s hypoallergenic and doesn’t impair their vision while out walking.
- Make sure all costumes with objects/items are not sharp or pointy. To minimize hurting themselves or others.
- Plan a route beforehand, to minimize walking distance if needed for your child(ren) and decide which houses look safe.
- When trick-or-treating, look for houses that are decorated, or lit up with light(s) to know who’s participating in Halloween.
- Always inspect candy and toys once home before consuming or using them.
Most of all, keep it safe, keep it spooky, and make this Halloween one your little ghouls will never forget!
