Standing Up, Speaking Out
The Moose Hide Campaign is a movement started by an Indigenous father and daughter, Paul and Raven Lacerte, after a hunting trip along the Highway of Tears—a place where too many Indigenous women and girls have gone missing or been murdered.
They tanned a moose hide from their hunt and turned it into small pins. That pin became a symbol—a promise—to stand up against violence toward women and children.
Why it matters
- Violence is real. Indigenous women face way more violence than others in Canada. That needs to change.
- The campaign empowers us. It calls on men and boys—and everyone—to speak out, take action, and lead with respect.
- It’s about healing. The moose hide connects us to the land, to our culture, and to each other.
What You Can Do
- Wear the pin. It shows you care and want change.
- Start conversations. Talk with friends, family, and teachers.
- Take the lead. Join or organize a Moose Hide event in your school or community.
You Matter
This campaign is for Indigenous youth. Your voice, your strength, and your actions are what will create a safer future for our people.
Wear the hide. Walk with pride. Protect your people.
