If you are currently receiving TAP funding and are First Nations, you may also be eligible to receive additional funding with the Federal Post-majority Support Services through Indigenous Services Canada.
What is it? Post-majority Support Services is funded by the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Program through the federal government.
Who is this for? For youth and young adults ages 18-25. That are aging out of care. Either currently or previously in care.
How do I apply? You can apply by speaking with your worker, or a First Nations service provider, where they will do an intake for submission of eligibility and approval.
What does this support cover? Post-majority Support Services covers the following:
- Housing
- Food
- Employment and financial security
- Mental health, wellness, and addictions supports
- Healthy relationships
- Holistic and cultural supports
Can I apply for this if I'm currently on TAP? Yes! You can apply while also receiving TAP funding. This is called “stacking” and happens when you have more than one funding source that shares the same purpose(s).
Why should I apply for this? This service provides extra support to help you reach independence and stability in adulthood.
